The gorge-wall climb: where the drive becomes the stream

Lake Lure wraps the lake at the bottom of Hickory Nut Gorge, below Chimney Rock, where the Rocky Broad River comes down off the Blue Ridge escarpment and US 74A threads the narrow valley.
