Down on the lakeside benches and gentler uplands the ground is the dominant Pacolet clay (13.2%) and red-clay terraces like Hiwassee (8.5%), with the deeper Tate footslope coves (21.7%) mixed in. The flows there are lazier and the pipe is smaller, but the principle is the same: a crossing is only as good as the pipe that carries the water under it.
Sizing the pipe to the catchment, not a catalog
